Lansinoh Breast Pump Reviews – Manual or Electric?

In my previous post, parenting tips for babies, I have suggested breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is beneficial to both, mother and baby. Breast pump is used to express milk from the breast and stored in a bottle to be consumed by baby at a later time. It can be used to express out excess milk too . It can also be used to increase the milk flow if you are having problems with the flow. Therefore, I would like to share my opinion of the Lansinoh breast pump through Lansinoh breast pump reviews. There are two types of pumps, manual and electric. I have outlined the pros and cons of both types so that you can decide which one is more suitable for you .

Mums have to choose whether they want an electric or a manual pump. If they intend to express regularly, electric pump would be more suitable. If they intend to express milk occasionally then they should buy a manual pump. If you have issues with the milk flow, using a pump may help increase the flow. However, you should always try increasing your flow by putting your baby on the breast more often as your baby is the best pump !

Sterilise the pump and the bottle before every use.

If you have used either of the pumps, please share your experiences via the comment box. I would be happy to hear from you!

  1. Priya great review. I remember using both types of pumps during the 11 months I breastfed my son. I used an electric pump at home for the exact reasons you say faster. I needed to express because I needed to improve flow and quantity. I used a manual breast pump for when I occasionally worked in this first year of my son’s life. I didn’t want to scare off colleagues with the breast pump noise. However, this was 11 years ago so I’m sure technology has improved this aspect of the pumps.

    1. Thanks Fleur. Electric breast pumps don’t make a lot of noise due to the improvement in technology. Electric pumps are great for mothers who would like to to go back to work but still want to provide breast milk to their baby! Electric pumps are lot faster. So they are handy if you want to express a lot of milk. Manual breast pumps are handy if you want to pump milk on the go as manual pumps are more portable and silent then electric pumps.

  2. Hey Priya,

My friend travels a lot and I was thinking of getting a breast pump as a gift so that she can prepare some milk in a bottle while her nanny takes care of the baby while she’s away. The 2-in-1 Lansinoh looks great for someone who’s on the run but if it has that loud of a noise, won’t it affect the baby since they need to be in a calm environment?

    1. Hi Riaz. Thanks for your comment. The 2-in-1 Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump makes a noise but it is not that loud that you can’t hear the television. If you require a good quantity of breast milk, for example, when the mother is going to be away, electric pumps are better as they will express the milk much faster. But if you need to be discreet, for example, you need to express milk on the go or pump in the same room as the baby- manual pumps are a better choice.  Manual Pumps are slower than electric pumps. Hope that answers your question.

  3. Thank you for the review. I have used manual breast pump 12 years ago because I wanted go back to work and wanted my son to have nothing else but my breast milk at least for 6 months. It was difficult for me but i had to do it. Now technology has been improved i hope electric one is much better that manual one. I will recommend it to my neighbour who has the problem of breastfeeding her baby but her problem is different from mine . She can’t breastfeed her baby because when she tries she feels pain i hope this pump will help her. Thanks

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience Julienne. I would suggest to your neighbour to get the baby latched on properly to the breast otherwise she will have sore nipples which might be causing the pain. Otherwise she should take help from the nurse or the midwife. Pump only helps if you have got less milk flow. If breastfeeding is done correctly, it shouldn’t hurt.
