Nipple Cream

A nipple cream is an absolute must for any breast feeding mom. In the beginning while you are trying to get your baby latched on to your breast, your nipples might get sore. Even later on in breastfeeding, your baby might rub his gums on your nipples. I would only recommend Lansinoh Nipple cream as you do not need to remove it before you breast feed, It is an expensive cream but without this you would find it very hard to continue breast feeding if your nipples are sore.

Nursing Bra

A Nursing bra is a must for every breastfeeding mother. It is necessary not only for convenience but also for keeping most of your breasts covered while feeding your baby. Make sure you get the fitting right as your breast size will keep changing till the breastfeeding is established .

Product name: FeelinGirl Womens 2/3 pack Maternity Nursing Bra

Where to Buy: Amazon.co.uk

Price: £12.99 for 2 pack £17.99 for 3 pack

My rating:4/5

Other features:

  • Material: 90% Nylon 10% Spandex .
  • Comes in 2 pack or 3 pack with different colour combinations.
  • It can be used as a nursing bra or a sports bra.
  • Strong but easy to remove clasp with one hand (when you want to nurse your baby).

I feel that the pro or con of a nursing bra  (or with any bra) is the fitting. If you can get the right fit than this is the bra for you. However, there is one thing that I would like to mention is that the Amazon prices are very reasonable for nursing bras. The nursing bras here are much cheaper than those in Debenhams and Marks and Spencers. So if you can get the fitting right then you will save a lot of money!

These are the essential items for breastfeeding. Other items like breast pumps are not essential and depends from woman to woman what their requirements are.

If you decide to breastfeed, it is very important for the mother to eat well, have regular meals. Keep yourself hydrated(with water not juices). You will feel very thirsty after every feed. When I was breastfeeding I used to have the Pregnacare Multivitamins for breastfeeding to ensure that I got all the vitamins especially omega-3.

If you would like to share any of your experiences about breastfeeding put them in the comment box below. I would be happy to hear from you!

Good luck!
